Latest Updates from Our Project:

Fulfillment and account locking
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 27, 2018 at 11:23:10 PM

Hi Brewers

Although we are using Backerkit for our survey, I have sent out the kickstarter survey today. The survey is just to encourage the remaining 7% of backers to update their addresses and details on backerkit

I am also locking the completed Backerkit surveys to date so that i can sort out volumes of games and add-ons for our impending mass production completion.

Happy holidays everyone

December update: samples, progress and additional rules
over 5 years ago – Sun, Dec 09, 2018 at 01:50:02 AM

Hi Brewers,

Three things to talk about today: Additional Rules, Production Progress and Special Brew fulfilment!

Additional Rules

Firstly, the solo rules have now been formatted and updated with the new art. You can get it here:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1O7KTxcTdyhGsfLls8JLotQ3oFQRNdNqU

Secondly, thanks to Marco Ghitti and Tanino Albanese, we now have a version of the rules translated into Italian. You can get it here:

Production Progress

We've got the production samples from Gameland this week and while it's been exiting to see the files, we've got some fixes that need addressed before we OK the manufacture.

I'll go into loads of detail below, but the executive summary is that we've been able to sign off on the cards, wooden components, stickers, shipping box and add-ons (bag and mats) but we want to let you know that there's some problems with the tin that might cause us to deliver in April rather than the originally planned March.

This is frustrating for us, and I'm sure for you too, and we'll let you know as soon as we do if this slippage is confirmed and what the impact is on our delivery timeline.

Special Brew Fulfilment

All Special Brew copies have been sent out to the backers who filled out their surveys so if you haven't got it yet you should be soon! We've still got five of you who haven't completed your surveys so your copies are still waiting to get sent out!

That's the headlines for everything, but if you like to hear about the detail of the production progress, read on!

-

Most of the samples are excellent. The wooden components look great:

The malt tokens looking great!

In the prototypes and the special editions, the malts were round and 4mm high. For the production version the malts are custom made hexagons and 5mm high. This makes them easier to manipulate and less likely to role away under the table!

So do the brewers!
So do the brewers!

These are the final colours, and we're really happy with them. We've tested them for accessibility and contrast:

They seem to work well and even if they don't we're still including the marking stickers for you to use.

The tin on the other hand is currently not where we want it to be. The size is correct and the printing is looking awesome but the lid doesn't shut fully.

We had asked for a short indent in the lid like the review copies and the Special Brew but on the sample the lid has a weird lopsided line which neither holds the indents in the base shut or ensures the box stay's closed.

We're tested the lid without the hinge and turned around and it shows that the lid can stay shut without the indent/clasp. We've also compared the investigated the tin against other tin games we have and we're convinced that its a design issue.

Either the hinges on the base are too low in the base tin to enable the lid to fully sit on the tin base or the lid is too shallow so it is not physically possible for the lid to close whilst the lid is hinged to the base.

The upshot is that either the lid needs to be increased in size by 1-2 mm, the base hinges need to be raised, or the indent removed. Regardless, a new base and/or tin lid is required to be made.

I have passed these findings on to Gameland who will pass them on to the tin manufacturer when they request a new sample tin. Unfortunately, this means that the tin may not be made by the 5th January, the date we are working towards to ensure the game ships in January for delivery in March.

Finally, back on the good news, the cards are looking great. They're only rough-cut and we've had to change some of them to increase contrast etc but that's only minor stuff that won't impact delivery. Here's the copper with the new wooden components to show how good it's looking!

That's it for now! Thanks and we'll keep you informed when we have more final details!

Brewery rubber backed mats
over 5 years ago – Tue, Nov 13, 2018 at 10:02:23 PM

Hi Brewers,

I have now added the brewery mats to backerkit for those backers who are interested in buying them as add-ons.

https://microbrew-board-game.backerkit.com/

Rather than over complicate the ordering, I have placed these both at £2 each as I'm sure only backers who have already bought the kettles would be interested in buying the breweries.

I do want to point out that these are not necessary for the game, the mats are just a little added luxury.

Happy brewing,

Sarah

Production Update - November
over 5 years ago – Mon, Nov 12, 2018 at 02:40:57 PM

Hi Brewers,

I am aiming to provide a monthly update to provide insight into how the production is moving along as well as any new reviews or events we may be attending.

Production update

Nigel has been working hard ensuring that all of the graphic files for Microbrew has been produced with the manufacturers templates and we have sent these off today for confirmation and pre-production proofing (where the manufacturer sends us the samples to approve).

In October I met with the manufacturer at Essen Spiel, and reviewed the components and the assembly. To protect the components and the tin, we will be assembling the game within a mailing box (a double walled e-flute box) during assembly. The cards and rules will be placed in the tin, and the wooden components will be bagged and placed to the side of the tin, on top of the beermats. There will also be a sticker sheet to add to the inside of the tin with the packing instructions and additional stickers to support colour blindness and accessibility. The mailing box can then be recycled or reused as you wish.

Backerkit surveys and add-ons

The backer kit surveys are 90% completed. Reminders for these will continue for another few days as the system sends out reminders for the first 30 days automatically. I had set the survey's closing in February, however if possible if you can fill out now, I would really appreciate it.

If you have lost your survey please use this link to retrieve it https://microbrew-board-game.backerkit.com/

Add-ons

I have been wowed by the volume of backers that have bought add-ons, especially the rubber backed kettle mats. I have been asked to add on the breweries too, and I have been trying to figure out the best way to do this. Essentially, I need to just put these up as an additional add-on. I will add the breweries as add-ons this week. Apologies this has taken me so long to do.

Special Brew backers

The printed cards arrived last week and I have assembled all of the games and even hand shrink wrapped each tin to ensure the contents do not fall out of the tins in shipping. These will be posted tomorrow to the backers who have filled out their surveys and should arrive next week!

Kind regards

Sarah
